Eros Bodyglide is a silicone-based lubricant made by a company called Pjur in Germany, which has quickly captured a devoted following around the world. It is officially marketed as a "skin conditioner and moisturizer." Bodyglide is amazingly smooth, fragrance free, and isn't ropy or sticky. It isn't water based, so means it won't dry out. It retains its lubricating properties better and longer than water-based lubricants. It also will not harm latex, as oil-based lubricants will do. And it is highly concentrated, so a little goes a long way. HOWEVER, since this lubricant is silicone based, it could do some damage to some of the newer generation of higher-end sex toys that are made from silicone (such as the Tantus collection of toys featured on this website). Another IMPORTANT consideration: Bodyglide contains a mixture of dimethicone, dimethiconol, and cyclomethicone. These are liquid forms of silicone, and are common ingredients in cosmetics and lotions. They are generally considered to be non-toxic when used externally. (Dimethicone is also an ingredient in over-the-counter medicines for internal use.) It seems obvious that most people who purchase Eros use it as a sexual lubricant for penetration, and we haven't heard any reports of problems stemming from that use. But silicone-based lubricants have NOT been officially tested or approved for internal use. While Bodyglide's packaging states that it is non-toxic and non-allergenic, there has been legitimate debate in the scientific community about silicone having some internal toxic properties. (Remember those breast-implant lawsuits?) So we sell this formulation for external use only, and if you choose to use it for penetration, you will be doing so at your own risk. Also, Eros is considered the best method for shining latex clothing by most of the top latex designers. In addition to its shining capabilities, Eros eases the process of getting into latex clothing. Simply apply to the skin before putting on the garments, and they will slide on with ease. No more use for messy talc! |
